Chapter 10: Advertising for success

Advertising is promoting goods in a commercial way with the intention to persuade the viewer. Many firms spend billions of dollars per year to design and produce creative advertising campaigns. But why do they spend so much?

  1. The main aim of advertising is to create a consumer want for a product. If done correctly, revenue raised from advertising will have an amazing payback.
  2. To give a brand it's image. A good brand image (example: Coca Cola, Google, Sony) will encourage the consumers to buy the product.
  3. To create product loyalty
  4. To crash competitors. Competion will be reduced if they dont manage to advertise too
It has been proven that the most profitable and therefore best ways of advertsing is TV and Newspapers!
